About the Artwork

Here the hand engages in the time-honoured craft of pottery, a counterpoint to our throwaway society of planned obsolescence. The painting symbolises a reconnection with nature and the earth, creating functional pieces that honour our ancestors who crafted vessels not to discard, but to preserve.

About the Artist

With an international profile, Evert has painted commissions for Australia's National Portrait Gallery, won two Archibald People’s Choice Awards and is recognised by The Portrait Society of America. A tonal realist, his work emphasises ‘hands’ as they convey emotion, cultural identity and ritual.
