About the artwork

Puella is Latin for young girl. My work is about linking generations through regeneration: nurturing, motherhood. I carved a small maquette of Puella in soapstone, as a base to carve a much larger form in plaster. A mould was made from this, then a wax model, then a bronze. I also had requests for a smaller bronze version, hence the little Puella.

About the artist

Helen is a sculptor who has exhibited at Mosman Art Gallery, Bathurst Regional Gallery and Dubbo Regional Gallery and won many prizes. A lifelong observation and love of sculpture in its many forms have influenced her work which is at times semi-abstract and characterised by simple elements of design.
