Nathalie Gautier-Hartog - TRYING TO MEND THE LANDSCAPE

NATHALIE GAUTIER-HARTOG

TRYING TO MEND THE LANDSCAPE, 2022

gouache on digital print

71 x 122 cm (framed)

Showing in: Mosman Council

About the Artwork

I have used gouache to draw on a digital print from an autochrome in the Palace of Versailles' collection, with their permission. The work addresses issues of our poor environmental record, how the planet is facing climate change and if we don’t try to do something, to mend it, it will be fraying.

About the Artist

Botany is a subject I apply as a metaphor to explore distant and recent history. My own journey from France to Australia has generated a set of interpretations that I bring into my work. I address human connections with the environment, focusing on the personal impact landscapes have had on me.
