About the Artwork
Walking through the Antibes in high summer, every glittering glimpse of the water seemed a mirage, salvation just out of reach. Hastily applied marks in oil pastel on a loose weave linen invoke the memory of shimmering blue, just out of reach, through lusciously green gardens.
 
About the Artist
A self-taught artist, Phoebe works in oil pastels to capture beauty through composition, colour, pattern and texture. She repeatedly draws domestic scenes, embracing organic marks, smudges and imperfect lines. Intuitive and process-driven, her work values creation as much as the final composition.
