About the Artwork
In Australia we deal with extreme weather in different ways, including constructing weirs to mitigate flash flooding. I love painting water movement, how the flood water slinks over the edge of this weir. It’s very still and reflective, then rushes over in a smooth movement, sparkling in the sun, forming eddies around sunken obstacles. 
 
About the Artist
A winner and finalist in numerous Australian art prizes, Rowen was listed as one of the 100 most collectable contemporary Australian artists in 2022 and his works are 
held in public collections. He lives and works on the rolling tablelands near Armidale, NSW.
