Rowen Matthews’ recent museum show, Land is Emotional, held at Tamworth Regional Gallery in NSW, was shortlisted for the 2020 National Art Gallery and Museums Award for Best Temporary Exhibition in an Australian Public Gallery. His recent commercial shows at Day Art Gallery in Blackheath, Blue Mountains, include Nocturne 2017, Vertical Land 2019 and Land 2020. Rowen has been awarded the Calleen Art Prize, the Armidale Art Prize and the Blackheath Art Prize. He received an Australian National Postgraduate Award for his PhD research into contemporary art practice. Rowen’s work is held in private collections across Europe, North America, Great Britain and Australia. His work is also held in Australian public museum collections including the Blue Mountains City Gallery and Cultural Centre, Cowra Regional Gallery, Charles Sturt University and Tamworth Regional Gallery.
