The human hand in the piece shows two sides at once. It feels gentle and caring but also guiding and controlling. It reminds us how people try to direct what they admire or fear. The hand becomes a symbol of care, power and the responsibility we hold.

With an international profile, Evert has painted commissions for the National Portrait Gallery, Australia, won two Archibald People’s Choice Awards and is recognised by The Portrait Society of America.
