TRAVELLING LIGHT – TOKO RANGES, 2014

oil and iridescent pigments on canvas

155 x 140 cm (Tasmanian oak frame)

Showing in: Belle Property

About the Artwork
The Toko Ranges are on the edge of the Simpson Desert in south-west Queensland. I was there just after floods, part of a National Museum scientific expedition. The country was covered in wildflowers and the Gidgee trees were in bloom. The painting is layered with iridescent pigment so the tones and colours change with the light.

About the Artist

Jo's paintings celebrate her long engagement with desert landscapes, travelling to many remote and inaccessible regions, bearing witness to natural and human histories and exploring the true nature of wilderness. An exhibiting artist for over 40 years, her works are held in public and private collections worldwide.
