About the Artwork
A grouping of nondescript forms can become anything. We can feel sorry for the jar standing alone or romanticise two forms as a dance or intimate conversation. The looming shadows in the background hint at architectural forms and suburban settings. I have played with shadow and light to celebrate unsophisticated subject matter, finding beauty in the nuances of the familiar.

About the Artist
Mirra’s artworks explore the formal and conceptual limits of the genre of still life, presenting everyday household objects from another angle. In 2024 she won the Redland Art Prize, she is a five-time Archibald Prize finalist and a finalist in many other major art prizes. She is a former Mosman High student.
